The Carmen and Carmen 7 Corner Summerhouses
The Carmen and Carmen 7 Corner Summerhouse
The Octagonal Carmen is a large, spacious summerhouse equally at home in the corner of the garden or elseswhere. It's available in two models - one with four large double windows and one with seven. We'd recommend the four window model for the corner of the garden - for obvious reasons. There doesn't seem to be much point in paying the extra for three windows commanding a view of a fence, wall or other boundary. If you're thinking of siting the Carmen elsewhere however you should consider the seven window version for all round light and space.
The overall appearance of the Carmen is undoubtedly attractive and the Georgian styled windows and door along with the apex roof round off the traditional design perfectly.
The Carmen is manufactured in 34mm interlocking Nordic spruce logs mounted on a 34mm frame. Roof and floor are finished in 19mm tongue and groove. The windows are glass and the half glazed doors are nicely finished with laminate wood bars. The roof is finished in bituminous roof shingles - but just check the supplier's website to see exactly which roof covering is supplied as standard. The doors are secured by cylinder lock.
Overall dimensions of the Carmen are 11'1'' x 11'1'' - 13'4'' x 13'4'' when the overhang is taken into account. The door width is 3'9'' and the height 5'11'' - certainly more accommodating than many other models. The building's height is 7'3'' at the eaves rising to 10'8'' at the apex of the roof.
The Carmen has pressure treated supporting joists but is otherwise supplied untreated. You should make sure that a suitable decorative/preservative finish is applied at the time of erection or very shortly thereafter. This will need to be renewed on a regular basis.
You may find an installation option available from some sellers and you should note that roof coverings or roof covering styles are sometimes optional. As mentioned above, the Carmen is available in both four and seven window versions. You can see the specifications of both models here (opens in a new window).
Unless an installation option has been purchased the summerhouse will be delivered ready for treatment and assembly.
